Epic recently designed and built a “lights out” automated assembly system for international manufacturer of automotive power train components. The system incorporated four Fanuc six axis robots with servo controlled dial indexer to produce 360 drive shaft yoke assemblies per hour. The system is capable of assembling 17 different styles of yokes with minimal change over. The system yielded a 600% increase in productivity.
